The build is completed

We will move in this weekend and the house has been finished. We are looking forward to the new house and the extra space. The carpet has been laid. Here is the main corridor for upstairs.
The main bedroom with the louvres installed in the internal window to the ensuite.

The carpet downstairs is a green colour with a mosiac pattern in it. This is the multipurpose room.

And the main lounge room has also been laid with the green mosiac colour. You can see the tiles from the entryway with the feature tile.

The kids take a rest on the stairs. We carpeted the stairs to hopefully lessen injuries when the inevitable falls down the steps.

Tiling complete

As the house is well and truly locked up, it gets harder to get inside and take photos and not much has occurred outside. A change to outside was the tank stand has been put in and the tank should be arriving in the next couple of days. Now we just need some rain to fill it.

The bathroom and ensuite has been finished except for the shower screens and mirrors. This is the kids bathroom. Vanity and bath installed, tiled and almost ready for use. There is a power point missing but when these photos were taken, the electrician was in the house finishing off all the electical points and switches.

The bath and tiles in the ensuite. The IXL tastic has also been installed.

The vanity in the ensuite with tiles outlining where the mirror will ultimately be.

We were able to leverage off the tiler that NDH uses to lay our own tiles for downstairs. It saved the time of having a tiler come in and do the wet areas and then once hand over occurs, getting the same or another tiler to lay the tiles for our flooring. The tiles did look really good when they were first laid but now with workmen walking on them, they look a bit dirty.

The living and meals areas have also been tiled so other than two rooms to be carpeted, downstairs flooring is virtually complete.
The powder room downstairs has been nicely finished off. Not long now before we will be moving in.

The Kitchen

We got our first look at new kitchen. Angela was dancing around in it saying how big it was, how much room there is, and how much easier cooking will be.

No this is not the new kitchen but what we currently have. A nice blend of 70's architecture with tiled bench tops and mock wooden laminate doors in shades of brown.

The new kitchen from the meals area showing the new bench. This new bench has a dark laminate top and is wide enough that people could prepare food from both sides. Sorry about the blurry photo but I'm sure we will get another clearer one soon.

Inside the kitchen, the gap is where the stove will go. There are pot drawers to the side of the stove.

Cupboards and a microwave spot are below the main bench. We lifted a bit of the cardboard protection to show the colour of the bench top.

In the butlers pantry there are benches and shelves on each side wall with spaces to store appliances. The back wall will contain shelves where we can store food.

Bits and Pieces

A lot of different things have been done to the house.
Some doors have been hung. These are the double doors to the main bedroom. We went with plain doors initially to keep the price down. Probably in the future we will put some feature doors there.

A sliding door has been added to the walk-in pantry.

Skirting boards and architraves have been installed in the main areas. The pile of skirting boards has been substantially reduced.

The main corridor looks a lot cleaner now that the door frames, cornices and skirting boards have been put in.

The ground floor eaves have been painted as well as the alfresco. Everything is steadily moving on.

Upstairs Downstairs

The stairs have been completed so now the kids can see the upstairs and where their rooms are going to be. This looking from the top of the stairs. You can also see a shelf which we weren't aware that we were getting so a pleasant little surprise. Now we just have to figure out what we are going to put there.

And a view of the stairs from the bottom. The stairs will be ultimately carpeted.

Doors are ready to be installed and the folding door to the ensuite is in sections.

Architraves and skirting boards have also been delivered and so we should start to see those installed this week.
A view of the upstairs, looking through the doorway of the master bedroom down to the what will ultimately be the boys room at the end. The doorway on the left is nothing exciting - just the linen press. The media/study area is the open space on the right.

What's behind the round window? Now all can be revealed. The ensuite to the master bedroom. The bath is directly behind it and the shower base to the left. The vanity will be on the right.

Plastered

For those following this blog - sorry about the delay but we went away for a month for a holiday.

The bricks have all been cleaned so the true colour of the bricks shows up. The outside of the house is now complete.

And a view of the front of the house with the verandah. We still need to get the garage door put up.

The plastering has been completed downstairs at least. We can't get upstairs to see if it has been done there also. This is looking down the main corridor to the front door.

The entry to the living room has two cutouts. They have come up quite well.

Looking down the from the corridor to the kitchen. The doorway on the left is to the walk-in pantry. The floor also has been cleaned. Now with the plasterboard on, you really get a feeling of the house and how it will look.
We have also been busy getting carpets and tiles ordered. The end is now in sight.
